Kanthal Hot Rod® Electric Heating Elements
Hot Rod heating elements are manufactured in one piece
from high purity alpha silicon carbide grains sintered at temperatures in excess of 2500°C to form equal
diameter recrystallized rods or thick walled tubes according to the diameter.
Hot Rod elements are ideal for aggressive atmospheres
and are highly resistant to chemical attack. They can be used in applications from below 600°C up to 1600°C
in both air and controlled atmospheres. Special glazing and coating treatments can improve their life cycle in
difficult atmospheres.
Advantages of Hot Rod Heating Elements
- One-piece construction for reliable, trouble-free operation
- No joining cements or welds to limit temperature capoabilities
- Can be used continuously and intermittently
- Can be mounted vertically or horizontally
Typical Applications
- Laboratory and industrial applications
- Aluminum Die Casting
- Furnaces for Non-ferrous Metals
- Glass processing Furnaces
- Float Glass Lines
